Cheerleading | DanceSport 03/06/2015

Kaohsiung, TPE - 17 and 20 September © Roland During the 25th German Cheerleading Championship that was held last weekend in Stuttgart, GER, German DanceSport Federation President Heidi Estler met with her counterpart at the American Football Federation Germany (AFVD), Robert Huber. The focus of the discussions was on the future collaboration between the two bodies: not in the hard-hitting ball sport but in cheerleading.

Cheerleading in Germany is organised under the umbrella of the governing body for American Football and Huber is also Senior Vice President of the International Federation of Cheerleading (IFC), an Associate Member of WDSF.

Cooperation between DTV and AFVD first started in 2008. However, after WDSF and IFC had established formal ties - and IFC cheerleading had professed to be a discipline of DanceSport - intensifying collaboration at the national level seemed appropriate. Among the short-term objectives is the establishment of a formal association between DTV and AFVD.

The sights are set on another target as well! The 2015 World Cheerleading Championship will be held this November in Berlin, GER, at the Max-Schmeling-Hall, the venue where the World Latin took place in 2013. Find out more!
