Cali - Salsa Capital

Almost all International Sports Federations have now completed the selection of athletes for the 9th edition of The World Games, held from 25 July to 4 August in Cali, Colombia.

So far, athletes from 86 nations - from Algeria to Vietnam - will compete in the 26 regular sports plus the 5 invitational sports. With regard to the number of participating nations per sport, DanceSport and gymnstics are in a league of their own, with nearly 40 different countries each. Another 200 dancers have been selected by the Organising Committee - through auditions - to take part in the Games' Opening Ceremony on 25 July. Well over 1,000 Salsa dancers from all the different schools in Cali auditioned at the Buenaventura Theatre under the watchful eyes of the ceremony choreographers.
