Our Asian specialist Bojin Chen has told us about an ongoing feud between the two countries over where the best b-boys/girls come from. So when we received the first entry to "Breaking for Gold" from Manish Ghalley, aka B-Boy D-soul, we simply had to ask him about the breaking scene in his country.
We called him in Thimphu, Bhutan's capital, and he had his sister anwer first. "Because of his shyness," she said and continued to describe how much breaking meant to him.
Then B-Boy D-soul expanded on that himself. He started only four years ago, when his friend and mentor returned from studying at a university in Bangalore, India, where he had picked up b-boying on top of academic knowledge. Since then, D-sould goes to his friend's studio minimum four times a week and progresses well. He is now a member of the Druk Dream Team and hopes to make it all the way to Buenos Aires.
