7 February 2014 - Sochi, RUS © IOC The 400 dancers who represented the Russian DanceSport Union during the Olympic Opening Ceremony in Sochi, RUS, can take pride in having been part of a memorable and very favourably commented show.

Together with the crème de la crème in Russian ballet they told a crowd of 40,000 in the Fisht Stadium and a worldwide TV audience in the billions about the last 500 years in the history of Russia. Through their dancing and through the projection of visuals. From the days of Peter the Great to those of the USSR, dance and music were the constant.

Dancers brought to life ballroom scenes from Tolstoy’s “War and Peace,” images of the Russian Revolution immersed in eerie colours, the flight of peace doves, etc. ...
