2011 Grand Slam Latin Ostrava

As we have promised earlier, the solo dances by the six finalists in both Grand Slam Finals are getting uploaded in HD today and tomorrow. All of them will be available on the "Live from Salou" blog and in our Video Gallery on the homepage.

After a record number of hours on the two spectacular Grand Slam Finals were broadcast live on this website and on the WDSF YouTube channel DanceSport Total, we now proceeded to add the one ingredient that, for technical reasons, was not available for the live stream: the full results.

Maybe this is as good a time as any to remind everyone of the five Programme Components that are evaluated by the Adjudicators in order to produce these results.

  • Posture, Balance and Coordination PB
  • Quality of Movement QM
  • Movement to Music MM
  • Partnering Skills PS
  • Choreography and Presentation CP

The scale that they have available to grade each component ranges from 1 to 10,  with a possibility of awarding half points (.5) too. Put in words, it looks like this

10

Outstanding

9

Superior

8

Very good

7

Good

6

Above average

5

Average

4

Fair

3

Weak

2

Poor

1

Very poor

Out of the nine scores for each of the five Programme Component, the highest and the lowest are dropped and the other seven are averaged and then added up for the aggregate score. You should easily get the idea when you look at the graphics insert after each dance.
