IDSF World Formation Latin 2008 30/11/2008

Avatar IDSF World Championship Formation Latin
Arena Nova in Wiener Neustadt, Austria
Nov. 29th, 2008

The responsibility for the organisation of this World Championship took over the  HSV Zwölfaxing, headed by Mr. Peter Kielhauser and Mr. Steffen Engel. Together with their team they did a very good job.

22 teams out of 13 nations entered the first round in the afternoon. The well known favourite teams presented themselves well prepared, some of them have chosen a new choreography, some of them wanted to be on the safe side and presented their well known program from last year.

So the experts expected their favourites to be in the final, one or two places in the final could go to a few teams.

The first team to present its routine in the final was Klaipeda University Zuvedra 1. This team was determined to win the title from the very first round, showed dynamic and perfect dancing. Each couple was dancing on a very high level, matching each other in every single detail. They knew, the Team Bremen (Photo) will be challenging and the decision of the adjudicators will be very close. In the end it was the toughest decision possible, with a majority of 4 first places the title went to Lithuania. It must have been very disappointing for Roberto Albanese`s team to finish 2nd, because they made all efforts this evening. Very fair and sportsmanlike Roberto Albanese congratulated Lithuania`s team captain as soon as they realized the close result.

In 3rd position the team of TSZ Velbert – Fortis Nova. This is a new team in Formation Championships, obviously tensed in the first round, but improving from round to round. In the end the adjudicators marked them very clearly in 3rd place.

The 4th place went to the team from Russia Vera – Watch it ! A very young promising team, talented and dancing on a very high level. Their routine was interesting, many new and surprising effects. These ambitious couples obviously were going for a higher placing, supported by the audience and their Russian friends.

Also well prepared for this day the team from Austria HSV Queen. Reaching the final of the European Championship was the absolute positive motivation for the couples to repeat that at the Worlds. They danced very selfconfident at this night from the very first round, showed dynamic and high quality in their dancing. They had great support from the Austrian audience, enjoyed the atmosphere and were happy with finishing fifth in this World Championship.

In 6th position again Lithuania Klaipeda II “Brasil”

The organizing club HSV Zwölfaxing is in sports activities very close connected to the sports sections in the Austrian Army. This was demonstrated the whole evening in very impressive shows : For instance an orchestra consisting of soldiers, playing music and creating a kind of Formation on the floor was most impressive and appreciated by the audience.

A group of tap dancers – “Irish fire” danced in their strict music and tempo to Irish folk music, this time accompanied by a horse ballet. All this made the evening unforgettable for the people. Also Dr. Thomas Kokott from Germany, who was handed over the IDSF flag as organizer of the World Formation Latin 2009, congratulated the President of the club for organizing such a great and perfect event.
