IDSF Adjudicators' Congress 22/09/2010

Fred Astaire
The second part of the IDSF Adjudicators' Congress in Stuttgart, GER, on 22 August was presented by Michael Herdlitzka (AUT) and IDSF Education Director Natasa Ambroz. It was completely different to what we had so far in terms of congresses and took on the traits of a workshop dealing with different topics.

The attendants discussed these topics in six different groups. The overall headline: "It's all about competing successfully, but where has the dancing  gone?"
After presenting a short movie featuring Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly dancing together, the question was:

"What we want to/can/shall do to achieve a better balance between competing and dancing qualities?"

The groups had to discuss all aspects from six different points of view:

  • Competitors
  • National Federations
  • Organisers
  • Adjudicators
  • IDSF
  • Coaches

"We have to combine competition and dance and produce an artistic sport. Energy must not override the artistry in our dancing."
