Pécs, Hungary 21/10/2016

Elblag, POL - 3 October © Roland After the Belarus DanceSport Alliance , the organiser initially granted the privilege to host the 2016 World Formation Standard this December in Minsk, had withdrawn by citing lack of support from the Belarus government, bidding reopened in June.

Aleksey Litvinov, the czar  of Formation DanceSport in Russia, tried the impossible by bringing the championship to Tyumen and to hold it there despite the ever deteriorating situation of the Russian DanceSport Union. In the end, however, this proved to be every bit as impossible as running the fifth GrandSlam leg in Moscow at the end of this month.

The World DanceSport Federation is very fortunate that in the end it was able to award the 2016 World Formation Standard to its Hungarian Member Body for the championship to be held in Pécs on 4 December. Thanks Hungary, you saved the day for the hundreds of formation dancers in many countries practising all year for this championship!
