Yury Simonov

The entire Russian DanceSport community mourns the passing of Yury Simonov. Together with his partner Olga Mikhailovna he formed one of the first couples representing the USSR that excelled in international competition.

In 1973, Yury founded the first DanceSport club un the Soviet Union, the "Contemporary," and went on to train some of the best dancers of that time who have since become the leaders of other clubs in the St. Petersburg area.

Yury also organised the first international DanceSport competitions in the USSR, later in the Russian Federation.
