20/02/2024 read more ...14 years ago Olga Komarova and Nick Kremishenski started to organize the WDSF competition „Crystal Palace Cup“ in London. In this long tradition many top competitors took the opportunity to dance in this beautiful venue of Hotel Ibis Earls Court. As well as the audience enjoys high quality DanceSport in a very nice and elegant atmosphere.
The winners of 2013 in the Standard section Simone Segatori and Annette Sudol, GER, returned to the Crystal Palce Cup 2014 and defended their victory in an impressive way by receiving all first places, runners up from Lithuania Vaidotas Lacitis and Veronika Golodneva, LIT. In 3rd position the couple representing Poland Giuseppe Longarini and Katarzyna Kapral. The top 3 were followed by Novikov-Klimenko and 2 couples from Denmark , Dmitri Kolobov and Signe Busk, Pasquale Farina and Sofie Koborg.
Many national Federations have their own internal ranking system, which includes national Ranking competitions as well as results in international competitions. In the Crystal Palace Cup could be seen a huge delegation from Denmark, headed by their Sports Director Henrik Larsen. So obviously this comp is part of their qualifying and preparation.
In the Latin section 36 couples entered the first round. They represented 20 Nations.
In 1st place we saw the couple representing Germany Maxim Stepanov and Emma Lena Koger, followed by the spanish team Guillaume Pascal and Rosa Carne, in 3rd position Jenya Suvorov and Jenay Libman from Israel.
Every national DanceSport Federation assists and supports organizers of great events. This gives a great possibility to show their activities, present their dance couples and intensify the international contacts and cooperation. It is a pitty that we had no chance to meet some of the representatives of DanceSport England. This might have been a good oportunity to meet and talk , exchange ideas and discuss the future of DanceSport as this is usually done in other big events.
Thanks to Olga and Nick for all their efforts to provide the best conditions for the dancers. It is not always easy and problems occur from time to time, such as visa problems and cancellations in the very last moment. These are the challenges an organizer is faced with.
