WDSF Reinforces Breaking event management team 17/11/2022

With qualifying for Breaking at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 now under way, the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) has significantly strengthened its Breaking event management team with a number of strategic appointments confirmed.

The new members report directly to team leader B-boy Bojin (Bojin Chen), the famed Breaker and activist from Chinese Taipei and WDSF Presidium Member with full voting rights.

The complete list of all appointments to date include a diverse and international group of Breakers with decades of experience organising battles around the world. They are (in alphabetical order):

  • Katsu (Japan) as WDSF Breaking OQS (Olympic Qualifier System) Advisor;
  • Kid Glyde (USA) as WDSF Head of Breaking Judges Performance Evaluation Team;
  • Max (Portugal) as WDSF Breaking Event Management Specialist;
  • MG (Slovakia) as WDSF Breaking Ranking System Specialist; and
  • Skim (Republic of Korea) as WDSF Breaking Competition System Specialist;

The appointees are already fulfilling their mandates.

Further appointments are expected to be made in the lead-up to the Olympic Qualifier Series (OQS) for Paris 2024, a new IOC-led Olympic qualifier series for Breaking, BMX freestyle, skateboarding, and sport climbing set to take place from March-June 2024.

“With the first qualifying event [WDSF Breaking For Gold Challenge Series] for Paris 2024 having taken place in Montreal in September 2022 and with the WDSF World Breaking Championship 2022 having taken place in October 2022 in Seoul, things are really heating up on the road to the Olympic Games,”

said Bojin, who began his competitive Breaking career in 1997.

“This is why it is so important that we bring in specialists from around the world with the skills, knowledge, experience and passion to ensure that each of our events is expertly organized and authentic.”

Following the successful staging of the WDSF World Breaking Championship 2022 in Seoul, Republic of Korea from 21-22 October, and the WDSF European Breaking Championship 2022 set for 5-6 November in Manchester, England the next event in the calendar will be held in Tokyo, Japan on November 19th 2022.
