Michael Eichert DanceSport, a discipline that encompasses grace, athleticism, and precision, owes much of its success and growth to individuals who dedicate their entire lives to its promotion and development. Today, we stand in tribute to one such remarkable figure, Mr. Michael Eichert from Freiberg, Baden-Württemberg, whose lifelong commitment to DanceSport has left an indelible mark on the world of DanceSport.

Michael's early journey into the world of DanceSport began at the age of 16 when he enrolled in a dance course, a decision that would shape the course of his life. Unlike many others, he not only embraced DanceSport but excelled in it. He attended dance education courses and, in 1970, became a part of the 1st Dance Club Ludwigsburg, where he quickly rose to the highest class in both Standard and Latin dances. He even achieved success in Rock 'n' Roll, Michael won the Rock‘n‘Roll Championship of Baden-Württemberg (area championship / championship in TBW) twice.

However, what truly distinguishes Michael Eichert is his decades-long voluntary commitment to DanceSport. As a sportsman, he took on the responsibility and played a pivotal role in the execution of the first World Championship in Ludwigsburg in 1987. His dedication also led to the Ludwigsburg Dance Club becoming the second-largest DanceSport club in Germany, boasting over 1000 members.

Beyond his local contributions, Michael served as a sports officer in the Dance Sport Association of Baden-Württemberg and, for an impressive 25 years, in the German Dance Sport Association. His tireless efforts supporting athletes on regional (TWB) and national levels (DTV) achieved remarkable results.

Michael Eichert remains actively engaged at the national level meanwhile internationally he is part of WDSF Sports Policies Development Committee and WDSF Sports Enforcement Committee and has active highest Chairperson and Adjudicator licences. He continues to co-organize and serve as the sports director of the German Open Championships DanceSport in Mannheim and Stuttgart.

WDSF President Mr. Shawn Tay commends Mr. Eichert's dedication, stating, "Michael Eichert's lifelong commitment to DanceSport embodies the spirit of our sport – a journey of passion, dedication, and excellence. His contributions have made a lasting impact on the global DanceSport community."

Michael Eichert's selfless dedication to DanceSport has not gone unnoticed. Recently he received the prestigious Cross of Merit on the ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. This recognition not only acknowledges his extraordinary voluntary efforts but also serves as a testament to his unwavering commitment to the sport he loves. The award was given by Mr Winfried Kretschmann (left side on the photo), who handed the Award on behalf of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

In conclusion, Michael Eichert's life story is a testament to the profound impact that individuals can have on the world of DanceSport through dedication and perseverance. His journey from a young dancer to a lifelong advocate for the sport is an inspiration to us all. We celebrate his achievements and express our gratitude for his invaluable contributions to DanceSport.
