Star Championship 25/03/2018

2017 PD Super GP LAT Pieve di Cento The 2018 edition of “The Star Championship” is definitely a special one in terms of numbers and quality.

The WDSF World Open Latin competition registered 335 couples, while the WDSF World Open Standard registered 301 couples, being this year again, the competition with the largest amount of couples registered and, for sure, one of the best competitions in the world for the amateur section. Also the Professional Division is proud to present for the first time the PD Super Grand Prix Latin, with 41 couples registered, and the PD World Open Standard, with 41 couples registered as well, establishing new records for The Star Championship, placing this event among the best in the Dancesport environment. However these are not the only reasons why Italy should be proud of: as a matter of fact, considering athletes and judges, the 5 continents of the world are taking part to this unique and unforgettable event, making it a real international one, with 54 countries represented on the dance floor.

This success is due to FIDS, Italian National Federation and WDSF full member, finally united by the leadership of its President Michele Barbone and its technical commission where great names of the Dancesport environment are working: Davide Cacciari, Fabio Selmi, Alberto Pregnolato and Alessandra Valeri made possible these great achievements and, together with FIDS’s new presidium, they surely started a new age of success for Italy, giving WDSF some reasons more to make Standard and Latin American dances its crown jewel to the Olympic vision.
