Balan – Moshenska crowned 2021 World Latin Champions 06/12/2021

The new World Latin Champions were crowned on Saturday in Pforzheim, Germany. The reigning European Latin Champions, Marius-Andrei Balan and Khrystyna Moshenska added another award to the all-time Table of Honour.

One of the most anticipated highlights of the year, World Championship Latin, hosted by Pforzheim (GER) gave the athletes wonderful moments, and a reminder of what it was like to be in the spotlight again with supportive crowd around them.

It was the night of all nights for the home town heroes, Marius-Andrei Balan – Khrystyna Moshenska (GER), who scored over 39 points in each dance of the final, and took home the World title. For Marius it was his first one, and for Khrystyna it was her fourth.

”This, what happened today, is a personal success, but it is also like a step, like entering a private club”, Marius said, followed by Khrystyna’s quick and loving remark ”Welcome!”.

With seven years since her previous World title, Khrystyna hopes to set an example and to be an inspiration for the younger generation to have patience and to continue practising, and loving and believing in what they do. She never thought she couldn’t do it again, and now they did it together.  Winning the World Championship in their home town was certainly very special for both of them, and it was well demonstrated during the prize presentation ceremony when Marius held Khrystyna and carried her to the floor while standing ovations filled the venue.

The silver medals were awared to Andrey Gusev – Vera Bondareva (FDSARR) and the bronze medals to Charles-Guillaume Schmitt – Elena Salikhova (FRA), followed by Andrea Silvestri – Martina Varadi (HUN), Edgar Marcos Borjas – Alina Nowak (POL) and Guillem Pascual – Rosa Carne (ESP) for the places 4th to 6th in respective order.

The event with 64 couples on the starting list was highly appreciated with the couples as the safety protocols and sanitation measures allowed spectators in to bring the magical atmosphere and support for the athletes. ”It was great to see how the people enjoyed and the dancers enjoyed tonight!” Khrystyna concluded.
