His Majesty's Jubilee 14/09/2016

Dmitry Kharkov - Olga Kulikova, RUS © Goetz On 3 and 4 September 2016, many couples and officials met in Bangkok at the Huamark Stadium for the 7th edition of the Thai King's Cup. Dancers from 31 nations received a very warm welcome already on Friday evening when Sittichai Preyadara and the Thailand DanceSport Association invited to a Welcome Dinner Reception on „The Grand Chaophraya Cruise.“Everybody enjoyed this great atmosphere coming together in friendship surrounded by the wonderland scenery of Bangkok.

The main events during the King's Cup, which was in celebration of the 70th jubilee of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej' accession to the throne, was the World Open in Standard and Latin.

Many of the top-ranked couples came to dance here, because the great atmosphere, the overwhelming hospitality and also the high prize money granted to finalists and semi-finalists are much appreciated by all dancers.

Winners in the WDSF World Open Standard was Dmitry Zharkov and Olga Kulikova, RUS, followed by runners-up Ewaldas Sodeika and Ieva Zukauskaite.LTU. Nikolay Darin and Natalia Seredina, MDA, came in third.

Winners in the World Open Latin were Timur Imametdinov and Nina Bezzubova, GER, followed by Edgar Marcos and Alina Novak, ESP. Maxim Stepanov and Ksenya Rybina, GER, came in third.

As this competition is really a very special one most oft the dancers promised to come back next year.
