The 25th Tokyo Open 2026: A Quarter-Century of Prestige in Japan
The captivating skyline of the Japanese capital served as the backdrop for a historic milestone as the Tokyo Open celebrated its silver anniversary from 23–24 May 2026. Marking 25 years of international prominence, the iconic Tokyo Gymnasium was transformed into a multi-floor competitive hub, welcoming a distinguished international field for two days of elite-level DanceSport. Jointly coordinated under the expert guidance of the Japan DanceSport Federation (JDSF), this landmark edition solidified the tournament's position as an essential cornerstone of the global touring circuit.
To accommodate the scale of the anniversary program, the event utilized an expansive dual-floor setup, running simultaneous action across both the Main Arena and Sub-Arena. The tournament’s far-reaching prestige drew a highly competitive assembly of athletes from across Europe and the Asian continent. This multifaceted schedule, ranging from elite WDSF Grand Prix categories to youth flights and specialized technical solos from JDSF, underscored the ongoing modernization and structural expansion sweeping through the global DanceSport landscape.
Saturday 23 May: Standard Precision Takes Opening Stage
The competitive itinerary commenced with a profound display of physical synergy. In addition to the first and second rounds of the International Open Standard Adult, variety of other events took place in the Main and Sub arena.
Saturday’s competitive schedule engaged audiences with the technical complexities of specialized solo brackets, including the JDSF Open Solo Waltz and JDSF Open Solo Quickstep, which allowed individual performers to demonstrate their solo artistry.
Sunday 24 May: High-Octane Latin, Standard and Professional DanceSport Brilliance
The competitive intensity escalated on Sunday as the main floor shifted toward rhythmic expression, culminating in the spectacular Grand Ceremony and pairing the passion of the adult Latin fields with the seasoned expertise of the Professional DanceSport athletes and the climax of the International Open Standard Adult.
The competitive itinerary commenced with a profound display of physical synergy, demanding absolute technical excellence from the field as the Standard specialists set the benchmark for the weekend, accompanied by the opening rounds of the JDSF Rising Stars in the Sub-Arena. According to adjudicators, led by Chairperson Vieira Duarte, as well as several prominent competing couples, the vibrant atmosphere provided a tremendous source of inspiration that will undoubtedly encourage the next generation of professional athletes.
