The World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) has announced decisive measures to strengthen fairness, transparency, and accountability in competition judging.

With the rapid growth of international events, WDSF is introducing new standards through the Sports Department and WDSF Academy to elevate adjudicator education, event management, and performance evaluation. These efforts reflect WDSF’s continued commitment to protecting athletes and ensuring trust in every result.

Following recent reviews by the WDSF Sports Enforcement Team, a number of adjudicators who breached the WDSF Code of Conduct or failed to perform to the expected professional standard have been removed from the pool of judges’ selection for a pre-assigned period. WDSF has also identified and suspended officials who contacted appointed adjudicators with the intent to influence or request favours, actions strictly prohibited under WDSF regulations.

WDSF Vice President for Sports, Nenad Jeftic, said:

“Integrity in judging is non-negotiable. Every athlete deserves to compete knowing that results are determined solely by performance, not by influence.”

WDSF President Shawn Tay added:

“These measures are not about punishment, but protection — protection of our athletes, our adjudicators, and the credibility of DanceSport itself. We are building a culture of trust where fairness and professionalism are the foundation of every competition.”

National Member Bodies have been reminded of their duty to uphold these standards and report any potential breaches directly to the WDSF Sports Commission. All reports will be treated confidentially.

WDSF will continue to recognise exemplary organisers and adjudicators while taking firm action against misconduct. These actions reaffirm the Federation’s commitment to fairness, professionalism, and the long-term credibility of DanceSport.
