Across three days, Paris will once again become a central meeting point for urban DanceSport, welcoming the world’s top competitors in Breaking and Hip Hop Freestyle as they contest five prestigious world title events, relaying the World Championships from Japan following a highly successful 2025 edition that welcomed around 2,500 people in attendance.

Building on the momentum generated by Breaking’s Olympic debut and the continued global expansion of urban dance disciplines, these championships underline the long-term commitment of WDSF to the structured development, sporting integrity, and international visibility of both Breaking and Hip Hop Freestyle within the DanceSport horizons.

The event will bring together athletes, international federations, and the wider DanceSport community in a city that has become a natural stage for urban dance culture, offering a setting where sport, culture, and performance intersect.

The championships are held with the support of the French Ministry of Sports, Youth and Voluntary Life, the Métropole du Grand Paris, the Île-de-France Region, and the City of Paris, reflecting strong institutional backing for the growth of urban dance as an integral component of the national and international sporting ecosystem.

Charles Ferreira, President of the Fédération Française de Danse, stated:

“The Fédération Française de Dansewelcomes the WDSF’s decision. It is the result of several months of work and consultation alongside our institutional partners. At the crossroads of sport, culture and leisure, this event represents a tremendous opportunity to promote dance, all dances, throughout France and across our territories."

Competitions will take place at the Adidas Arena in Paris, a modern indoor arena originally built for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, where it hosted events such as rhythmic gymnastics and badminton, alongside other sports and cultural activities. Now a key part of the capital’s Paris 2024 legacy, the venue offers an ideal setting for high-level international competition and large-scale live audiences. For the 2026 World Championships, organisers expect around 12,000 spectators across the event, reinforcing Paris’s role as a major host city for global DanceSport events.

With its rich dance heritage, vibrant urban scene, and proven capacity to host major international events, Paris offers an outstanding platform for these World Championships and promises a memorable experience for athletes, officials, and spectators alike.

WDSF President Shawn Tay stated:

"These championships reflect our vision of urban dances as a global, high-performance sport rooted in culture, excellence, and international cooperation."

Further information regarding event schedule, registration procedures, and accreditation will be published in due course.
