Breaking en Francophonie to showcase Africa’s talent at Complex Tour de l’Œuf ahead of Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026
The World DanceSport Federation (WDSF), together with the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee, is pleased to announce Breaking en Francophonie, an operational test and preparatory event taking place this weekend, 7–8 August 2026, at the Complex Tour de l’Œuf (CTO) in Dakar. The venue is set to host the historic Olympic Breaking competition during the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Dakar 2026 this November.
Organised with the vital support of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) and made possible thanks to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the event serves as a key joint operational milestone ahead of the first-ever Olympic event to be celebrated on African soil. The two-day gathering provides an invaluable opportunity to test the field of play and venue logistics, while showcasing the dynamic spirit of competitive Breaking.
The event will bring together young athletes from across the globe, alongside a strong contingent of Senegalese athletes performing in front of their home crowd.
Beyond the action on the floor, the weekend features international congresses led by WDSF specialists and technical training for Breaking DJs and judges. Running alongside the broader collaboration with the OIF, these sessions aim to build sustainable administrative capacity and reinforce the sporting legacy of Dakar 2026.
WDSF noted that holding this event at the Complex Tour de l’Œuf represents a decisive step in the collective preparations for Dakar 2026, serving as an essential technical assessment of the venue and a celebration of African urban culture on the road to a landmark Youth Olympic Games.
