End of an Era: Dmitri Kolobov and Signe Busk Announce the End of Their Landmark 15-Year Partnership

After 15 extraordinary years on the dance floor, one of DanceSport’s most iconic partnerships comes to a close. Danish Standard icons Dmitri Kolobov and Signe Busk have officially announced the end of their competitive journey together, leaving behind a legacy of remarkable achievements, unforgettable moments, and an unwavering passion for DanceSport.

Their remarkable journey together began on July 2011 on the floor of the Rising Stars Open Standard in Wuppertal, Germany. From that very first competitive appearance to the grandest stages in the world, they built a career defined by elegance, artistic depth, and athletic excellence.

Over a decade and a half representing Denmark within the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF), the couple established themselves amongst the absolute elite of global Standard DanceSport. Their consistency and dominance are reflected in an extraordinary track record of 42 Gold Medals, 20 Silvers, 26 Bronzes, 49 GrandSlam appearences and 14 World Championship appearances, alongside the World Champions title in Show Dance Standard in 2025 in Brno.

Throughout their career, Dmitri and Signe were regular fixtures on GrandSlam podiums around the world, proud competitors at The World Games 2022 in Birmingham, USA, and most recently claimed a well-deserved Bronze Medal at the European Championship Standard Adult in Calvià, Spain in May. Their final competition with the WDSF took place this past August at the prestigious German Open Championships in Stuttgart.

Beyond the trophies, titles, and medals, their partnership was defined by relentless dedication, perseverance, and a deep artistic synergy that inspired dancers and audiences across the global DanceSport community.

Reflecting on their journey, the couple shared a joint message with their supporters:

"After 15 incredible years of dancing together, we have made the decision to end our partnership and continue on separate paths. We part ways with the deepest respect and appreciation for each other and with nothing but love and gratitude for the journey we have shared.

For 15 years we have grown up together not only as dancers, but also as people. Looking back, our hearts are filled with gratitude and pride for all the unforgettable moments we have experienced together."

The couple also extended their heartfelt thanks to their families, friends, global supporters, and long-time mentors and coaches, Tania Kehlet and Emanuel Valeri, whose guidance was instrumental throughout their career.

Commenting on their retirement as a couple, WDSF President Shawn Tay expressed the Federation’s deep appreciation:

"Dmitri Kolobov and Signe Busk have been true ambassadors for DanceSport over the past 15 years. Their dedication to DanceSport and their constant striving for excellence have set a benchmark for future generations. On behalf of the World DanceSport Federation, I want to thank them both for the immense joy and inspiration they have brought to our global family, and I wish them every success in the next chapters of their lives."

As the couple close this chapter to pursue new journeys on separate paths, the WDSF and the entire DanceSport community celebrate everything they have accomplished together and the indelible mark they have left on our sport.

Thank you, Dmitri and Signe.
