2026 Brisbane World Breaking DanceSport Festival, A New Milestone for Breaking in Australia
The World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) proudly presents the inaugural Brisbane World Breaking DanceSport Festival, taking place at Brisbane City Hall from 17th to 18th January 2026, in collaboration with DanceSport Australia. This landmark event marks a major step forward for the growth of Breaking across Australia and Oceania, with the aspiration of establishing it as an annual tradition and a global beacon for the Breaking movement.
The Festival will feature the following competition categories announced so far:
- WDSF BfG World Series Breaking 1 vs 1 B-Boys Adult
- WDSF BfG World Series Breaking 1 vs 1 B-Girls Adult
- WDSF BfG World Series Breaking Team 3 vs 3 Mix
- WDSF BfG World Series Breaking 1 vs 1 B-Boys Youth
- WDSF BfG World Series Breaking 1 vs 1 B-Girls Youth
Beyond the competitions, the Festival will celebrate Breaking’s cultural roots, offering performances and experiences that honour the history, artistry, and diversity of this dynamic art form.
This event also sets in motion a journey toward the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games, supporting the next generation of athletes and fostering the continued development of Breaking in Australia and Oceania. Educational programs and training opportunities following the Festival will empower local dancers, blending passion with purpose and performance with growth. As WDSF President Shawn Tay noted:

We see this occasion as the first step in preparing the next generation of breakers for the global stage, and in connecting Australia to the Olympic vision that awaits in 2032”
