Another distinguishing mark of the competitions held up to this point as part of Sportdance 2016 is their immense variety. Senior Standard contests ran concurrently - albeit in different pavilions - with Hip Hop battles for children of ages 8 and 9.
Different music, different technique but a common theme: that's taking the holistic view on DanceSport. Of the 35,000 athletes present at Sportdance, 6,000 dance either Latin or Standard; that leaves 29,000 practising one of the many other disciplines. FIDS, the Italian DanceSport Federation, sees similar perecentages reflected for the total of its 125,000 licensed athletes.
