Dany Dann wowed a packed venue with his athletic moves, intricate footwork and musicality to secure the confident win over GB’s Kid Karam, winning the thrilling three round battle 3-0. His journey to victory put him to the test, seeing off Ukraine’s Kuzya, (forth in Korea last month) in the Top 8, before B-Boy Daniel from Norway in the semi-final.
The B-Girls also brought it to the floor with India from the Netherlands taking gold at just 16 years of age, helping to inspire the next generation of breakers.
Rising star India defeated B-Girl Anti from Italy 3-0, firmly marking her spot as one to watch as the sport journeys towards the Paris Olympics in 2024. India was on roll all weekend, seeing off B-Girl Mad Max (BEL) in the Quarters before beating Vanessa from Portugal in the Semi-final. Proving how strong the camaraderie is amongst the breakers, Vanessa was the first to storm the floor after India’s emphatic win to congratulate her.
Commenting on hosting the UK’s first major international event, Breaking GB President Oliver (Hooch) James said “This weekend was incredible, the home crowd was amazing and we set the bar high for future events as breakers journey towards the Olympic Qualifying series in 2024. The European Breaking Championships represented an exciting and progressive step, showcasing breaking as both sport and entertainment whilst retaining its authenticity. We put on some show both for spectators and those watching at home and I’m sure we’re going to take lots of new fans on the journey to Paris with us.”
The top four finishers in Manchester all secured a place at the 2023 European Games in Krakow, Poland, which will be a direct qualifier for Paris 2024.
