A New Peak in Athlete Participation

Compared with last year’s championship, 2025 shows remarkable growth, particularly in diversity and international reach across both categories.

B-Girls

This year, 82 B-Girls from 33 countries across four continents have registered, an increase of 33 athletes and 11 additional countries compared with 2024. The rise in both participation and geographical spread reflects the fast-expanding footprint of women’s Breaking on the world stage.

B-Boys

For the B-Boys, a total of 97 athletes from 37 countries spanning five continents will compete in Kurume. The field welcomes 11 new countries, marking a significant increase in global representation and demonstrating the sport’s continued international growth.

The combined numbers show that Breaking is attracting more nations, more emerging talent, and a broader community than ever before, exactly in line with the movement’s global momentum following major visibility at Paris 2024 and The World Games 2025, earlier this year, in Chengdu.

A Celebration of Growth and Global Unity

The WDSF President, Shawn Tay, highlighted the importance of this year’s record figures:

“Kurume 2025 continues to show how Breaking is expanding across borders and cultures. These registration numbers reflect not only the talent and passion of the athletes, but also the strength of our global community. We look forward to witnessing an unforgettable championship where creativity and unity take the spotlight.”

Preparing for an Extraordinary Championship

With athletes arriving from nearly every corner of the world, Kurume is ready to welcome an exceptional gathering of B-Boys and B-Girls. The diversity of styles, backgrounds, and stories promises a championship rich in creativity, cultural expression, and high-level competition.

As the final countdown begins, the stage is set for Kurume 2025 to become one of the most vibrant and internationally represented editions in the history of the WDSF World Breaking Championship.
