Kurume 2025: Breaking Championships - All Info You Must Know
Kurume 2025: Witness the Step that Moves the World
A wave of power and style is about to take over Japan. From 12 to 13 December 2025, the city of Kurume in Fukuoka Prefecture will host the WDSF World Breaking Championship, marking the first time that this prestigious event is held on Japanese soil. The global stage that dazzled the world at Paris 2024 Olympic Games and Chengdu last summer for the 2025 The World Games now shifts eastward, where the energy of Breaking will ignite once again — louder, bolder, and more inspiring than ever.
More than 36 nations will send their finest breakers to the Kurume General Sports Centre, a venue that will soon vibrate with the sound of beats, footwork, and the thunderous cheers of a captivated crowd. Each battle will embody the championship’s powerful concept: “One Step Can Move the World”. In Breaking, a single step can indeed transform not only a performance, but the spirit of everyone watching.
For Japan, a nation with deep urban culture and an ever-growing Breaking scene, hosting the World Championship represents both a celebration and a statement — that this art form, born on the streets, has become a symbol of creativity, discipline, and unity across borders.
A City Transformed by Rhythm
When December arrives, Kurume will become more than just a host city; it will become the beating heart of world Breaking. For two days, the Kurume General Sports Centre will transform into a festival of motion and sound — a place where sport and culture merge seamlessly. The audience will not remain passive spectators; their applause, their energy, their voices will feed the rhythm of each battle, amplifying the raw emotion of every moment.
Beyond the competition floor, the atmosphere will extend throughout the venue and beyond. Visitors will be able to experience Fukuoka’s vibrant spirit through food stalls offering local delicacies, explore areas dedicated to street culture and urban sports, and witness performances by emerging young dancers from across Japan. Each detail has been designed to immerse fans in the culture that surrounds Breaking — a culture built on creativity, resilience, and shared passion.
This is not merely a sporting event; it is a cultural celebration. Kurume will welcome the world with open arms, inviting fans and athletes alike to be part of a movement that connects generations and transcends boundaries.
Competition and Participation
The WDSF World Breaking Championship will bring together the most talented B-Boys and B-Girls on the planet to compete for one of the most coveted titles in DanceSport. Participation is open, with no athlete quota per country, and competitors must be at least 16 years old by 31 December 2025.
Registrations are now open on the WDSF website, and National Member Bodies (NMBs) are invited to submit their entries before 30 November 2025. In countries without an NMB, dancers may register directly via [email protected]. Performances will count towards the official WDSF World Ranking for B-Boys and B-Girls, adding further prestige to an already monumental occasion.
Ticket Info
Tickets for the event, now on sale, will offer spectators the chance to witness the world’s best breakers live in action. Further details, including the full list of participating athletes, will be released gradually on the official event website and the WDSF’s social media channels in the lead-up to December. Fans can visit the WDSF Breaking for Gold accounts on social media for updates and more ticketing information.
A Defining Moment for the Future of Breaking
As the countdown to Kurume 2025 begins, anticipation builds across the global Breaking community. The world had the chance of witnessing the power of this art form at Paris 2024, where Breaking made its Olympic debut and captured millions of hearts, and at The World Games last summer in Chengdu. Now, that same energy returns — sharper, freer, and ready to make history once again.
In Kurume, under the lights of the arena and the rhythm of the beat, a new generation of legends will rise. The city will become a crossroads of culture, where every spin, freeze, and step tells a story of courage and creativity.
This December, Japan will dance with the world. Be there to witness the step that moves it.
