A Record-Breaking Youth World Championship Awaits in Porto
In just a few days, on Thursday 28 August, the city of Matosinhos, Porto (Portugal), will welcome the world to a moment unlike any seen before in the history of Youth Breaking. The 2025 WDSF World Championship Breaking Youth is ready to bring together the very best young B-Boys and B-Girls, with an atmosphere that promises to be both electric and unforgettable.
A total of 270 athletes from over 40 countries – 169 B-Boys and 101 B-Girls – have already registered, making this championship not only prestigious but also a record-breaking gathering. Never before has the global Youth Breaking community come together at such scale. And even beyond those on the official list, there are countless young breakers rising in every corner of the world, a reminder of how powerful and alive this movement truly is.
A new chapter after Wuxi
This is only the second edition of the Youth World Championship, following its debut last year in Wuxi, People’s Republic of China, yet already it feels like a tradition is being born. For many of these athletes, Porto will be more than just a competition: it will be a milestone on the road to the Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026, where Breaking will once again shine on the Olympic stage. Here, the new generation will measure itself, and the future stars of tomorrow will begin to reveal their names.
WDSF President Shawn Tay underlined the significance of the moment:
“This promises to be a historic event, one that will mark a before and after for Youth Breaking. The energy in Porto will resonate far beyond this week, inspiring generations to come.”
The world will be watching closely
The Top 8 battles will be streamed live worldwide through the Olympic Channel, giving global audiences the chance to share the energy, creativity, and passion of these young athletes. For them, it is not only about winning a title, but about representing the next chapter of the story of Breaking.
As we prepare for Porto, one thing is clear: this is the future of WDSF Breaking. Youth are ready to take center stage, to inspire, and to write history. On 28 August, in Matosinhos, the world will see it happen.
