Designed as a vital operational test and preparatory landmark, the two-day gathering (7–8 August 2026) delivered essential technical evaluations while celebrating the rich vitality of urban dance culture on African soil.

Led by WDSF delegation, including WDSF General Secretary Sergey Nifontov alongside representatives from the IOC, YOGOC, the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), and the Senegalese DanceSport Federation with its President, Gacirah Diagne and General Secretary, Papa Abdoulaye Faye, the test event served as a crucial step toward ensuring seamless execution for the upcoming Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026 this November.

The primary focus of Breaking en Francophonie was a comprehensive operational assessment. Operating as a scaled test event, officials evaluated crucial event delivery sectors:

Field of Play & Infrastructure: Testing competition setups, floor specifications, and technical equipment within the CTO.
Athlete & Official Services: Evaluating arrival and departure workflows, catering, and hotel accommodations for athletes, judges, and entourage.
Competition Format: Replicating the Olympic-style model. Day 1 focused on pre-selections and round-robin Battles to rigorously test tournament software and timing, followed by the top-8 knockout stages on Day 2.
