Rome Returns to the Rhythm: PalaPellicone Ready for Year Two of the Internazionali di Danzasportiva

The coastal perimeter of Rome is bracing for an intense weekend of movement and athletic stamina this autumn. From October 2 to 4, 2026, the PalaPellicone at the FIJLKAM Olympic Centre in Lido di Ostia will host the Internazionali di Danzasportiva for the second consecutive year, hosting the fourth stop of the WDSF GrandSlam series. Reflecting on the magnitude of the gathering, Laura Lunetta, President of the Federazione Italiana Danza Sportiva (FIDESM) and WDSF Vice President, shared her enthusiasm for the milestone event:

Set against the backdrop of Rome’s seaside district, the PalaPellicone shifts gears from a martial arts hub to a specialized performance space tailored specifically for high-level athletic movement. Organizers have fine-tuned the venue layout to handle the demands of the competition, ensuring that the specialized flooring, acoustic setup, and broadcast lighting meet the precise standards expected.

For the competitors stepping onto the floor, the venue provides a focused, intense environment where fractions of a second and millimeter-precise positioning dictate the difference between stepping onto the podium or heading back to the training hall.

A Packed Three-Day Schedule

The weekend delivers a dense roster of divisions running back-to-back across the Olympic venue's specialized flooring. Friday’s opening day features crucial continental and world title competitions, including the WDSF European Championship PD Ten Dance Adult, alongside world title showdowns with the WDSF World Championship Solo Latin Female Under 21 and the WDSF World Championship Ten Dance Under 21, paired with various senior opens. Saturday shifts the intensity directly to the marquee WDSF GrandSlam Standard Adult, supported by youth, rising star, and PD brackets. The weekend concludes on Sunday with the high-voltage WDSF GrandSlam Latin Adult, accompanied by a comprehensive lineup of junior, youth, and senior standard and latin categories.
