Excellence on Display at the 2026 Lyon French Open

Lyon, France – 14 and 15 February. The Lyon French Open once again brought the global DanceSport community together in the vibrant city of Lyon, France, welcoming athletes, officials, and spectators for a weekend defined by exceptional performances, and international competitive excellence. The event was held at the renowned Patinoire Charlemagne, providing an impressive setting for one of the key fixtures on the international DanceSport calendar.

The competition attracted 300 couples representing 33 countries, underlining its status as a truly global event. Approximately 1,000 spectators attended across the competition days, creating an enthusiastic and supportive atmosphere that celebrated both athletic achievement and artistic expression.

The event was honoured by the presence of local and regional representatives, as well as officials from the Fédération Française de Danse, reflecting the strong institutional support for DanceSport in France and highlighting the importance of the Lyon French Open within both the national and international sporting landscape.

Key Results of the Competition, Saturday 14th February

The competition programme included a comprehensive range of categories across multiple age groups and levels, reflecting the diversity and depth of the international DanceSport community.

WDSF International Open Latin Adult

Lyon Reinforces Its Place on the International DanceSport Map

The success of this edition of the Lyon French Open reaffirmed the city’s reputation as an outstanding host for international DanceSport competitions. Beyond the competition results, the event embodied the core values of DanceSport: dedication, respect, artistic expression, and international unity. It provided a stage where cultures met through movement, and where athletes shared not only competition but also a collective passion for our sport.

With strong international participation, distinguished guests, and memorable performances, the Lyon French Open continues to play a significant role in strengthening the global DanceSport community and promoting the sport’s ongoing development. Reflecting on the success of the event, WDSF President Shawn Tay remarked:
