I do agree with (nearly) all of the people who made comments regarding our tardiness. We are most definitely behind the power curve with this blog. Communications between us here in Europe and our correspondent at the Luwan Stadium are down to a trickle ... For reasons unknown! It may well be true that Bjoern and Ashli have revalidated their title (as Erik comments). We have sent an SMS to Helmut to get that confirmed.
What we can promise you is that we will - eventually - have not only the results but also the videos going up here. When? Just as soon as we have our broadband line in China operational and allowing for the timely transfer of what are fairly big files. So please, accept our apologies ... Check back later!
Sorry, guys and gals. I take your point! As we are waiting for more news to come in from Shanghai, let's take an interview from our archives to carry us over. Quite a few people dancing the World Championship here in China danced another World a fortnight ago in Russia: Standard, and only Standard, was the programme then ... The teams from Austria, Canada, Denmark, Iceland and Sweden were honing their skills in Moscow. And Helmut Roland - who is omnipresent - talked to one of them there: the defending champions from Denmark.
The Latin pictures went up as well. Check the Gallery!
And for those wanting to figure out who will be the top contenders for this year's title in the DanceSport Decathlon we recommend they look at the "Live from Vienna, AUT" blog on the 2010 edition.
Defending champions Bjoern Bitsch and Ashli Williamson, DEN, are here in Shanghai. But so are last year's runners-up, Timur Imametdinov and Ekaterina Nikolaeva, RUS, who have beaten Bjoern and Ashli in April, during the European in Moscow.
The 2011 WDSF World DanceSport Championship Ten Dance in Shanghai, CHN, is in full swing and about to go into the second round. For nine couples, however, the competition is over after they failed to make the cut for the quarterfinal.
As we are posting such information, we kindly ask you to bear in mind that it is not of official character. Prof Roland gets the results from the scrutineers after every round, but they cannot be considered official until they are confirmed by the chairman at the end of the competition.

2011 Shui On Yong Ye Cup | WDSF World Ten Dance Championship | 8th China Shanghai International Latin/Standard Open ...
The full name of the two-day DanceSport extravaganza at the Luwan Stadium indicates that there is more scheduled than just the World Ten Dance. In all, the organisers expect upwards from 2,000 dancers to take to the floor on Saturday and Sunday. Alongside the main event, there are International Opens in Latin and Standard, competitions in HipHop and even even belly dance contests on the programme.
The official website - in Chinese only - is available here!
Prof Helmut Roland has arrived in Shanghai, CHN, earlier today and immediately set out to prepare everything to promptly forward information for this blog on tomorrow's World Ten Dance. We have already received the first batch of pictures on the welcome party held a few hours ago.
Among them one of WDSF President Carlos Freitag and General Secretary Shawn Tay posing together with members of tomorrow's panel of adjudicators.
We hope to able to provide you with the names of the full panel prior to the start of the competition.
The Shanghai hosts have promoted the 2011 World Ten Dance throughout the week with a press conference and media events. The Shanghai Daily reported on the event already.
A pair of dancers perform in Shanghai's Xintiandi area last night to promote the World DanceSport Federation's World Ten Dance Championship. The world's best dancers from more than 40 countries are gathering in Shanghai to compete in the event, which will run on November 12-13 at the Luwan Stadium.
