Update to WDSF World Ranking List Regulations in Standard and Latin Disciplines 06/05/2024

World Ranking List screenshot The World DanceSport Federation continues its commitment to enhancing the competitive landscape within the Standard and Latin disciplines. As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure fairness, transparency, and motivation for competing couples worldwide, we are pleased to announce a significant amendment to the WDSF World Ranking List Regulations.

Following a comprehensive proposal by the WDSF Sports Commission, a decision has been made to adopt a new allocation of base points for each participating couple in WDSF World Ranking Tournaments. This amendment is rooted in the fundamental principle of providing more proportionate recognition to each competing couple, aligning more closely with the efforts and achievements they demonstrate on the competitive floor.

The revised ranking points system is designed to offer enhanced motivation to competing couples, acknowledging their dedication and accomplishments in a more equitable manner. By allocating base ranking points that better reflect the level of competition and achievement, we aim to inspire and incentivize athletes at all stages of their journey within the DanceSport environment.

One of the key highlights of this amendment is the introduction of improved ranking points for participants in the WDSF GrandSlam and WDSF World Open events. Recognizing the heightened level of competition and prestige associated with these events, the updated points system offers additional motivation for couples vying for success on the global stage. Moreover the amended regulations include dedicated ranking points for the recently implemented WDSF World Challenge Cup

It is important to note that these amendments come into force immediately, signaling our unwavering dedication to continuous improvement and evolution within the sport. The full text of the amended regulations can be accessed here
