Recap of Day 1: Breaking Competition at the Olympic Qualifier Series in Shanghai 19/05/2024

SHANGHAI – May 19, 2024

The Breaking competition in the Olympic Qualifier Series (OQS) kicked off with an electrifying start in Shanghai, setting the stage for the world's top B-boys and B-girls to compete for a coveted spot in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The first day of the Breaking competition, held yesterday on May 18th, was filled with intense battles and remarkable performances.

Pre-Selection and Pre-Qualifiers

The day began with a rigorous pre-selection process, where 80 athletes (40 B-Boys and 40 B-Girls) showcased their skills and competed for a place in the next round. Only the top 32 athletes from each group advanced to the pre-qualifiers, intensifying the competition and raising the stakes.

During the pre-qualifiers, these 32 athletes competed fiercely, with only the best making it through to the top 16 Round Robin phase. This determined who would keep competing on Day 2 for the victory of Part 1 of the Olympic Qualifier Series in Shanghai.
