DanceSport Europe © GOC/DTV Coinciding with the German Open Championships, about 30 European members of the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) arranged to meet in Stuttgart and hold the founding assembly of "DanceSport Europe."

The new continental association was formally constituted under Swiss law between 26 European WDSF members.

A "DanceSport Europe" Managing Committee made up of Antero Koponen (FIN), Franz Allert (GER), Eva Bartunkova (CZE), Flemming Riis (DEN), Sergio Rotaris (ITA), and, as representative of the athletes, Ashli Williamson (DEN), was commissioned to pursue the full recognition of the association by WDSF, and to prepare its first General Assembly that will elect a regular steering committee.
