Still From Last Night ...

Camera Helmut Roland interviewed two of the couples that danced the GrandSlam Latin in Cambrils, ESP, last weekend. His question takes up on the fact that with the 2013 GrandSlam Series being produced for television, the positioning of the couples on the floor and relative to the cameras has become a matter of utmost importance. This applies particularly to Latin where there is less movement and evolution throughout the dances.

Adjudicators and cameras were set up on the “B” side of the floor in Cambrils whereas the bulk of the spectators sat opposite on what was – without any doubt – the “A” side. During the first two solo dances in the final, all couples favoured the A side by performing towards the cheering public there – and by turning their backs on the Adjudicators as well as the cameras.
