Final Showdown in Shanghai

2015 GrandSlam Final Latin

Nearly all of the dancers who are in Shanghai have very recently competed in the World Championships. The Latin champions were determined in Vienna, AUT, on 21 November; the Standard title was awarded only last weekend in Vilnius, LTU.

As competitions tend do by their very nature, both produced immense joy for some and bitter disappointment for others. It is for the latter that the GrandSlam Finals provide the perfect opportunity to reverse the fortunes one more time prior to the end of the year. Claiming victory here, being first in the final event to a multi-leg Series that went underway back in March, may have a distinctly different taste to it than winning big on a given day. But it is also one that only the very best dancers get to savour.

The 12 highest ranked couples in both Latin and Standard and two wildcard couples from China have been brought to Shanghai to contest the last titles of 2015. Here they are.
