It was mentioned in one of our news items already that the Italian DanceSport Federation (FIDS) is taking the most holistic view on what constitutes DanceSport of all WDSF National Member Bodies. FIDS explicitly mentions 30 different disciplines and as many as 53 different events falling under the brand called "Danza Sportiva" in Italian. This includes an e-sport version too. We have read about the E-DanceSport concept called "Dance&Sports." It extends the FIDS philosophy to the gaming environment. Together with the Italian E-Sport Federation, which is also presided over by Michele Barbone, FIDS has developed the concept with a view to the OIlympics too.
Should the IOC give the green light to the participation of e-sports in the Paris 2024 Olympics (something considered likely to happen by the insiders), FIDS will be among the first Italian federations to have the format included among its disciplines and events.
