2015 GrandSlam Helsinki 13/03/2015

Helsinki, FIN - 8 March 2015 The first leg of the GrandSlam Series 2015 is history: 180 couples - 90 each in Standard and Latin - were chiefly responsible for making it an outstanding success. Right behind them one must recognise the outstanding effort put in by the organisers, the Finnish DanceSport Federation (FDSF) and the Helsinki club Masters.

Sell-out crowds in hall 4 of the Messukeskus exhbition centre on 7 and 8 March were the fair reward for FDSF President Leena Liusvaara and Masters' Sergey Belyaev, whose foresight and initiative had brought the GrandSlam to the Finnish capital only four months earlier.

When WDSF First Vice-President Lukas Hinder thanked the organisers for the impeccable work they had carried out in record time, he also made reference to another new partner with a strong commitment to the GrandSlam Series. "This GrandSlam Helsinki makes for a double première," Hinder said. "It’s not only the first one ever staged in Finland, it’s also the first held under the 'sparkling' new partnership that WDSF forms with SWAROVSKI."

Immediately prior to the GrandSlam Helsinki, on 5 March, WDSF had announced SWAROVSKI, the world leader in precision cut crystal, as the main global partner for the prestigious GrandSlam Series. Click here!

Even if the "Live from Helsinki" blog with a huge amount of coverage on the two GrandSlams (140 videos on the early rounds, 400 photographs and news articles) has been archived, it can still be accessed here.

100,000 visits, more than 500,000 pages called up and an average session duration of close to seven minutes are the impressive stats that the blog accrued over the days it was active.

But even more media coverage is still to come. A 90-minute video-on-demand programme on the GrandSlam Standard Helsinki will get released later today.

The one on the Latin is to follow next week!

And the broadcast times for the two 60-minute TV highlights will get announced as soon as they become available.
