David Corfield | RIP 11/06/2018

David Corfield

WDSF Presidium members Peter Maxwell and Jim Fraser informed their colleagues of the passing of David Corfield, 81, in a road accident that occurred in Hartley Wintney, England, on 4 June 2018.

Peter wrote in the message to his fellow Presidium members: David was instrumental in helping me create DanceSport England, DSE, after the previous organisation decided to stay with the WDC body. Despite pressure and criticism from the establishment, David's enthusiasm for DSE and for WDSF never wavered.

David and his wife Mary generously hosted the DSE General Meetings at their lovely country home, accommodating and catering the delegates in great style.

David was, above anything else, a great dance lover. Although retired from competition for the past few years, he and Mary never stopped taking lessons.

WDSF President Lukas Hinder immediately joined DSE and Peter Maxwell in extending his condolences and those of the international DanceSport community to Mary Corfield. Davids friends from around the world, the delegates to the upcoming General Meeting of WDSF, will remember him on 17 June in Lausanne, SUI.
