Development in South America 28/07/2015

2015 Cali Congress WDSF continues its drive to develop and promote DanceSport in Latin America. Dispatched by the WDSF Membership Commission during June 2015, the trainer and WDSF official Joan Cayuela conducted National Adjudicators' Congresses in Cali (COL), Lima (PER) and Montevideo (URU).

After one week of congress at each location, the majority of the candidates passed the exams and obtained the National Licence for judges in their respective country. This is very important in order to have the national judges required to adjudicate in the national events and to increase the number of national competitions organized by the WDSF Member Bodies in each country.

Joan Cayuela singled out the incredible enthusiasm of the attendants as well as their great motivation to continue learning and developing DanceSport. In Colombia and Peru, during the same period of time, Joan also conducted congresses of Standard dances to improve the national trainers' knowledge. It is important to develop and work on Standard dances as they are not as popular as the Latin dances in this part of the world, and the Membership Commission, through Joan’s work, wants to give the best training possible in all ten dances.
