EDC: Preparations In High Gear 19/08/2008

Avatar As the Eurovision Dance Contest draws nearer, the participating couples step up their preparations.

A special music composition under the title of Tirei à sorte has been created as the music background for the routine by Raquel Tavares and João Tiago. The pair will represent Portugal at the EDC on 6th September.

A mix of Rumba and Tango is how this composition is described. Tirei à sorte was composed by Fernando Martins who also was involved with last year's participation. Its lyrics talk about fate and love. The influence of fado is once again present by the use of the Portuguese guitar. The song is yet to be revealed but it will be presented in the next copule of days.

RTP picked fado singer Raquel Tavares and professional dancer João Tiago to dance for Portugal on 6th September in Glasgow at the second edition of the Eurovision Dance Contest. In 2007, Sónia Araújo and Ricardo Silva achieved the 5th place alsongside Austria. They were the second highest ranked couple where one of the members was not a professional dancer.
