By: Heidi Goetz,

Schladming, a very nice and special little town in the Styrian mountains, Austria, well known from winter sports and recently granted to host the World Championship Skiing 2013, hosted the 1st IDSF European Championship Youth Ten Dance on Saturday, June 21.

25 couples were nominated to represent their countries in this event. All 25 couples appeared on the floor and danced their qualifying rounds in an afternoon session.

It was good to see so many trainers coming with their couples to coach and support them.

In the evening part a wide spectrum of different dance styles, such as Rock`n Roll Formation and Rock`n Roll Acrobatic, was shown to the audience.

The 12 couples dancing in the Semifinal showed very high level in the Youth category. Their fan groups were cheering for them and created a very good atmosphere.

Couples from Estonia, Belorussia, Poland, Russia, Germany and Denmark made the final. After ten dances the result was as close as possible, 1 point difference  between 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Winner and 1st IDSF European Champion Youth Ten Dance was the couple from Russia Yury Simachev and  Angelina Sibaeva, in 2nd place Evgeny Vinokurov and Christina Luft (Germany) , 3rd Pavel Novikov and Karolina Iwanowicz (Poland)
