IDSF World Ten Dance 2008 - Germany 29/11/2008

Avatar Kies/Ribas Turon defend world title

With an absolute suspense after the closed marked finals Christoph Kies/Blanca Ribas Turon won again the Ten Dance World Championship. Now they defended the title for the second time. Even in the Standard discipline they were on the winning path and with enough second places in Latin they made perfect their title defense. The silver medal went to the Slovenians Misa Cigoj/Alexandra Malai, who improved a place compared to last year, while the Russian couple Andrey Zaytsev/Anna Kuzminskaya this time had to be satisfied with the bronze medal. The other three finalists were newcomer in this final.

33 couples represented 33 countries in Berlin's Max-Schmeling-Halle which offered the best conditions for the hardest discipline in Dance Sport. Around 5,000 spectators took care for high spirits and supported heavily the couples. Dr. Thomas Bach, president of the German Olympic Sports Federation and IOC vice-president, shouted enthusiastic: "A great event, great sport and congratulations to Berlin." The organizing team of the National Dance Association in Berlin offered a perfect World Championship and made this event to a great dance sport show with an impressive program. This included the "Dance of the Vampires" formed by group of children, two Standard formation teams from Berlin, jazz and modern dance teams, a presentation of the American Dance Sports Cheerleading / Cheer Dance, a gymnastics show group, the women's orchestra Salome and the staff orchestra of the German Armed Forces.
