Information Systems Working Group 03/03/2011

RLS Development As even more functionality is getting added to the IDSF Registration and Licensing System (RLS), the need for co-ordination between all those working on or with it is increasing too.

IDSF Academy Director Petr Odstrcil, the originator of the RLS project, called for a working group to define and establish the standards that will allow the system to interact with scrutineering software, the Athletes' Media Files on this website, etc.

The first meeting of the working group took place in Vienna, AUT, on 1 March. IDSF Communication Commission Chair Heidi Goetz reports the outcome to be very positive, "but also hard to be put into words."  As is illustrated in the brief quote (from a document) below!

RLS Development "Following is pseudo-grammar that illustrates the construction of the authorization request header (\n means the Unicode code point U+000A commonly called newline) ... Signature = Base64( HMAC-SHA1( SecretKey, UTF-8-Encoding-Of( StringToSign ) ) );"

In any case, the results of the first meeting should soon translate into easy-to-be-used functions, apps, etc. That will be the moment we, the non-techies, should be able to inform you more.
