Style and Etiquette 28/12/2015

Benedetto Ferruggia - Claudia Koehler, GER © Süfke Rainer Seele, a sportswriter at Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Germany's national newspaper with the second highest circulation and renowned for inquisitive reporting, looks at DanceSport.

In an article titled "Immer Nur Lächeln," probably after a song in one of Franz Lehár's operettas, Seele takes quite a few potshots at a "glossy world, with plenty of makeup and pomade" that is DanceSport to the outsiders.

More specifically, Seele deals with the German DanceSport Championship Standard in the Professional Division and reports on incidents on and off the floor. Not all of it is flattering, but some of his observations should make us, the insiders, think about how we wish to come across to the world at large.

The article is best read in the German original, but a Google Translate version in English should allow you to get the gist - at least some of it.
