When the Swiss DanceSport Federation (SDSF) came into existence - on 28 November - it extended the scope of what constitutes DanceSport in a small, important and always leading-edge country.
Switzerland has been a trendsetter in DanceSport from day one. It was one of the founding members of the WDSF predecessor bodies FIDA and ICAD.
By opening itself to all the other bona fide DanceSport organisations such as the
and including them as SDSF partners in their full rights, STSV made a statement that was well received by the National Olympic Committee (NOC) as well. Swiss Olympic transferred its recognition of the STSV to the new organisation SDSF, and all the new stakeholders in SDSF readily accepted to abide by NOC rules and regulations.
