WDSF and IEC Partner Up - Again 11/06/2014

2014 GrandSlam Hong Kong The World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) has appointed IEC in Sports, the Stockholm based international sports agency, to exclusively distribute the international media rights for the WDSF GrandSlam Series

The elite six-leg GrandSlam Series in the two dance styles Latin and Standard attracts hundreds of top couples from over sixty nations to compete in five locations throughout the world. They each take their shot at gaining maximum ranking points, winning record purses and securing a place in the GrandSlam Finals in Shanghai, CHN, held in mid December.

‘We believe the GrandSlam Series complements the World and Continental Championships for broadcasters seeking year round coverage of this exciting sport’’ said Carlos Freitag, President of the World DanceSport Federation.

IEC in Sports also distributes the WDSF World and Continental Championships since 2008, with broadcast on major networks in recent years, including CCTV-5 China, Cable TV Hong Kong, Paris Premiere, J-Sports Japan and SVT Sweden amongst others.

‘’DanceSport is enjoying an immense surge in popularity and makes for a great television product,’’ said Daniel Franck, CEO of IEC in Sports. “The opportunity for the Lagardère Digital Media Centre in Stockholm to produce many of the highlight shows for WDSF is an important part of the cooperation and brings us closer to the sport.’’ added Franck.

Founded in 1994, the core competence of IEC in Sports’ (IEC) business is the distribution of broadcast rights of events in Olympic sporting disciplines and football. The Company represents clients on all continents and distributes broadcast rights worldwide to television stations and media companies.

A 25-strong media sales team is based in offices located in Stockholm, Hong Kong, Lausanne, London, Dubai and Sydney.  Since August 2007, IEC in Sports has been wholly owned by Lagardère Unlimited.
