The GrandSlam Is Declared Open

Opening Ceremony

A short openening ceremony was held at the beginning of the evening session on day two of the Finland Open. A show, a rollcall for the adjudicators and a round of speeches by the representative of the Finnish Olympic Committee and the presidents of the Finnish and the World DanceSport Federation! Of the latter pretty much everything in line with what is usually said on such occasions. Maybe with the exception of the closing remarks by WDSF President Hinder on competition manipulation.

"What is the purpose of organising the best competitions that involve the best dancers – of everybody going all out, trying his or her best – if the most important ingredient is missing in the end: CREDIBILITY. There is no sport without credibility!

"I promise to all of you that this governing body will address the underlying problems as a matter of utmost priority. I should soon be able to tell you how we plan to go about it."
