WDSF Disciplinary Decision – Mr. George Tan

On 22 March 2026, the WDSF Presidium adopted a decision in disciplinary proceedings concerning Mr. George Tan in relation to the Hong Kong Open 2025 competition.

The proceedings were conducted in accordance with the WDSF Internal Dispute Resolution Code (IDRC). Following a review of the facts and applicable regulations, the Presidium determined that Mr. George Tan committed a violation of the WDSF Competition Rules.

In particular, it was established that thirteen (13) adjudicators were appointed for certain competitions where the applicable WDSF Rules and Regulations provide for a maximum of eleven (11) adjudicators. This constituted a breach of the WDSF Competition Rules in the exercise of his function as Chairperson of the competition.

Taking into account the circumstances of the case, the Presidium decided to impose the following sanction pursuant to Article 14(1)(d) of the WDSF Statutes and the applicable provisions of the WDSF Internal Dispute Resolution Code, including the Catalogue of Sanctions:

The suspension takes effect as of 22 March 2026, being the date of notification of the decision.

In accordance with the WDSF Internal Dispute Resolution Code, the decision was subject to appeal within the prescribed time limit. No appeal was filed within that time limit.

Accordingly, the decision of the WDSF Presidium has become final and binding.

For the avoidance of doubt, this decision concerns exclusively Mr. Tan’s WDSF Chairperson’s Licence and does not affect the validity of the results of the Hong Kong Open 2025 competition.
