WDSF Presidium Adopts Disciplinary Decision Concerning Adjudication Integrity

The WDSF Presidium has adopted disciplinary sanctions pursuant to Article A.2.14 of the WDSF Competition Rules following an independent review of disciplinary proceedings arising from the 2026 Italian Absolute Championships held in Riccione, Italy.

The matter concerned conduct by several adjudicators who assigned preferences to couples not present on the competition floor, including couples who had withdrawn from the competition.

Following its independent assessment of the facts, evidence, and applicable regulations, the Presidium determined that the conduct constituted violations of:

The Presidium concluded that the conduct represented serious negligence incompatible with the obligations of adjudicators and undermined the integrity of the adjudication process.

Pursuant to Article A.2.14 of the WDSF Competition Rules, the Presidium adopted the following sanctions within the WDSF framework:

The Presidium emphasised that the integrity of adjudication is fundamental to the credibility of DanceSport competitions and reaffirmed WDSF’s commitment to transparency, fairness, and the consistent application of integrity standards across the international DanceSport community.

The decision may be appealed in accordance with the WDSF Internal Dispute Resolution Code.
