What An Evening!

9 August - Stuttgart, GER © Roland

The first evening session at the German Open Championship produced multiple moments of magic ... One of them was certainly the show that was performed by Andrey Zaytsev and Anna Kuzminskaya, RUS. Upon its conclusion, the 4,000 spectators rose as one for a long standing ovation.

The same thing happened at various points throughout the final of the 2016 WDSF PD Super GrandPrix Standard . It had its pinnacle moments with the highest levels of decibels when the six finalists performed the their last dance, the Quickstep, first as a solo, then in a group.

Winners were - as in 2015 - Benedetto Ferruggia and Claudia Koehler, GER. But the outcome was far more contested this time around. While the Germans kept runners-up Emanuel Valeri and Tania Kehlet, DEN, at bay with more than 7 points then, it was down to a 3:2 split in the dances that had them claim first place now. The Danes won the Slow Foxtrot and the Quickstep, the two dances that were performed as solos, rather convincingly.

While applause was dispensed generously to all finalists, one could not help but get the impression that Valeri - Kehlet garnered the peaks.

The videos of last night - including a spectacular Final Reel and interviews with the stars - are getting uploaded now. The show by Andrey and Anna will go up as well. Standy by!
